PSO:BB news

Well it is one week before Beta goes to pay to play, live, full version, gold, or what ever people are calling it. I will stick around since I know at least on what is in the full version of PSO:BB. Also I am interested in on what Episode IV has to offer in relevents of the Phantasy Star univers (not the game). Any ways in game I had found two crush bulltets, one varist, a rappy fan, delsaber buster, soul eater and the frying pan. The animal parts I had turned into team points. Oh yeah I am still looking for members for my team, Insane Taco Plan.

PSO:BB

OK i have been doing this beta test for BlueBurst(BB from now on) since last Tuesday (May 10) and this is my reveiw so far (only has espisode I):

I will be using a five star(*) system of rating here.

Graphics: ***
I give the graohics a 3 star since most of the grphics are the same or made sharper. Only really noticable changes is the HUnter Guil/Check room lady and the nurses have been changed facially. There is some graphic errors in some of the wall that hide the doors when you get near them.

Gameplay: ****
The game play is exactly the same as it was on PSO episode 1 for the Gamecube (assumeing that it was the same on Xbox and Dreamcast). Asside form the higher drop rates for the materials, addition of the principal's quest (p-quest from now on), and Momoka, the chick who gives you the P-quest. Theire is single player, which has the single player quest for the original, but in order to get the quest for caves, mione, and ruins you would have to do the P-quest to that point in normal mode first.

Server Save: ****
I say the server save is the best idea for an online game. This prevents any player to take there character and modify it with a third party cheating device or hex editor(+). Also is a good implement since if someone who solely played offline for X(++) ammount of months, and comming online with an extramly high character.

Sound: ***
So far in this episode the sound is exactly the same as the previous Episode I.

Story Line:***
The P-quest adds more of an insite into the story that was made back on the Dreamcast, there is about 3-5 per level. But, as of now the only other quest to add on to the story is the solo(previously offline) quest, and about 3 online quest from the Xbox and GC episode 1 ( which is Gallon's Trecherey, Todays rate, and Rappies Holiday).

Overall: 3.4 stars
Other than what was said in the previous part these are my last words of this reveiw:
Well, I did not do a benifit of dout (would of been .1 any ways) in since there is no hard mode or episode 2 implemented yet. But on some higher notes there has not been any known Dupe trick yet(+++), more people online playing (++++), implemented a team settin (so people dont have to make a new character for a team character), can have more than 6 customizable button for itmes (aprox 16, maybe more), lobby action in actual game play minus the chairs, and there is the the Game moderators. On some down notes of this past week was the two server maintancea that lasted several hours, and one lasted atleast a good 12-16 hours. There was also about two level bugs (the 12-16 hour server maintanace fixed them both), one raised you to an extreamly high level fast and the other one lowerd you character back down to one. When they fixed the bug, the players that was effected by the level up bug got reset back to level 1. Here and there some players are haveing problems logging in, some speculate that it is on Segas end wile other speculate it is on the users end. Occasionally the server might kicke off players ocasionally, but not to offen. GAME OVER

+Note: There is nProtect Gamegaurd, which is an any hacking program that comes with this and a few other online games to prevent any character hacking byany third party programs or devices.

++note: For you non-algebra people X represents un unknown number.

+++Note: To my knowlege.

++++Note: The number will drop, but by how many I am not sure. Also I have a few people I do regualar hunting teams with.

Well I finnally got broadband.

I had went with SBC YAPOO! Dial up was geeting to slow, or tomany pople are putting up to much junk and/or flash on web pages. Also download speeds are faster on DSL, even noticably faster on PSO. Speeking of PSO I have two of the same pictures for the PSO proxy and the pso.donut comparison. Here is one and here is the other. The first one was done by PSO Proxy and the other by pso.donut, you can see the image quality is better in Proxy than donut. The information on how to get and configure your gamecube can be found in my previous post.

The GameCube BroadBand modem and PSO snapshots

You may or may not know this but there is a way to take snapshots in PSO by using a controler on the fourth controler port. The snapshot always gets saved to the memory card in slot b. Well anyways the main thing I want to talk about is that that is two ways, that I know of, to get it from your memory card to your computer (PC, Mac and Linux) by using http://pso.donut.dhs.org/. You will need to set up your GameCube and you can use both modem adaptors for this. The instructions can be found here. Needs an internet connection.

There is another way, PSO Proxy. Basically it is a program that lets you transfer the snapshot from your memory card to your pc when they are networked together. ( Highly recomemded is the BBA modem, a Network Interface Card (NIC) on your computer, a crossover cable or a router with some CAT 5 cables.) Basically you dont need an internet connection, But is expensive in the short run. The instructions and download can be found here.

The Picture quallity is better on PSO Proxy compared to Pso Donut. Here is some examples of Donut: 1, 2, 3, and here is some from Proxy: 1, 2. I might post more pics (maybe I should compare the same pics).
